Saving the Camera sadly wasn't an option. It was a bit of slippery seaweed on a reef and a not so elegant bellyflop landing trying to make sure I wasn't going to have to be medivac'd 1200Km's to Perth. (Thankfully I have only ever done that once, and that was before I had Focal. With a laptop, tripod and masking tape to stick it on the side of my caravan I can test any gear I drop when I am out in the back blocks. How do I test results? Let's say I meet some guy in a Starbucks, and I put the target pattern on a wall, light it up, and then run FoCal with my tethered camera? Is there a database of results which I compare my results against? And about 20% of what I spent on a ColorMunki to ensure colour accuracy. I have it on both of my laptops, and made comparison charts for my 11 lenses on my 3 Bodies, so it was worth every cent. If you are considering a secondhand purchase you can plug up the lens in question, run the tests and know with confidence if you are getting a better than average lens, or if somone is trying to move a pig, or a damaged lens. I'm not sure if the lesser version does all the lens comparisons graphing. I went with the pro version and no complaints at all. I did it with my 7D2 using DotTune and it was a royal pain. No, I just want to calibrate my lenses well. Unless you are a techie and like checking esoteric stuff. If all of your lenses are <400mm, prob don't need Pro version.
